Artist's Comments

I got the most terrible need to paint someone in a lurid teal/malachite green.

I think I wanted to play with orange and teal together.

So I did.

LOL! It's not what I wanted... but meh... sometimes you go with what you get.

I love the shadow cast by his head. How it goes from silhouette to jacket texture and pants texture, the textures are just insane...And yea the orange against the green. nice. Whole thing, brilliant.

I love this one ... did use color wheel with shadow
and light I mean green and it's complement "red" or it comes like that ?

Thank you, sweetie!

It was the wee hours of the morning and I saw this neat color of malachite green on some website... and suddenly, I was telling my IRC pals that I HAD to use that green in a pic.

I am soooo glad you like him. (I fiddled with that shadow behind his head longer than I did his face and hand)

I have a color wheel, but I didn't use it when I made this. I just happened to remember *about* which color was complementary to green. LOL!

Complementary colors rock! Because as kickback shading or as contrast, they just create a wonderful symmetry.

Hugs!

i like the composition and especially the execution of the clothes. the only thing that confused me is the cast shadow on the jacket behind the head, before read the comments i couldn't tell it was a cast shadow, i thought the top part of his jacket was transparent.

it's a beautiful painting

amazing again i love the peice as a whole so much ^^
also- do you use a reference when you paint? eg- do you think of the pose and face urself, or do you flip thru magazines for references etc
:iconelfkin:
Sometimes I use photo references from magazines, sometimes I work from scratch. LOL! It depends on how much the pose and/or the lighting are giving me problems.

IF the pose and lighting come along well... then I work independant of a photo source. But if I see a pose I really REALLY like, or if I am working on something with difficult lighting or pose--I spend time trying to find a photo that is at least close to what I am trying to do.

Hugs!
