I often think Sauron must have thought his wraiths were beautiful in their terribleness.
At any rate, here is the King of Angmar in the moments before he is full wraith--not alive, but not yet undead either.... trapped in a moment when the he is something else altogether and so the world appears to be to him, as well.
Thank you! This was done a really long time ago. I mean years. And I've contemplated redoing it. But there was something about him that I just kinda liked.
"Beautiful and terrible as the dawn" is the quote that comes to mind when I see this picture (even though the quote is Galadriel describing herself.) Just amazing this picture is.
Lovely indeed. I randomly searched the Witch King on a whim, and was pleased that this was among the results. A wonderful picture as well as an intriguing idea and moment captured.
WOW! Ya know, I think the same about the wraiths. Consider that Witch-king was a great Numenorian king before, you have done a really respectable work! I dunno, but I trust that Black Breath wasn't pure fear, but there was also grief in it......
Lovely I really like the Nazgul, I find their story so interesting, and grew fond of them from the very beginning. Your drawing makes him look sorrowful and longing, just the way I imagine them before turning into the wraiths.
